We SO excited!

I lead a pretty simple life here in Korea.
Not too many extraordinary, overly exciting things happen to me
on a regular basis.

And don't get me wrong, I LOVE my simple life.
LOVE IT.

BUT...

The Trymnal

"At nine they stopped work, and sang, as usual, before they went to bed."
- Louisa May Alcott, Little Women

I've always loved this idea.
Finishing the day in song, in praise, in worship.
What a great way to refocus, to remind, to respond.
Because the hubs and I are both very musical, this idea appeals to us.

So, I decided to start by making us a "song-book", a hymnal if you will.
And because our last name is "Trammell", I decided to call it the "Trymnal".

^^

I found a nice, ring-bound binder to store our music in
and decorated the cover sheet with water color paint...

Water-y Art

A few weeks ago I wrote a post about this song.
Well, the song is so great that it inspired some art! ^^

I watercolored the ocean on top of the song lyrics
and then laminated the art work and put it up in our bathroom.

The reason I laminated the artwork is because this is our bathroom:

Most bathrooms in Korea are like this, no tub and a completely open shower.
Our shower head is connected to our sink and attached the wall.
Directly below the sink is the drain.
We shower right in the open with plenty of room to dance around
and potentially get pieces of artwork wet, but not if they're laminated!
Don't you love our flowered tile? I do.

Aslan & Lucy

--------------------

When the whole party was finally awake
Lucy had to tell her story for the fourth time.
The blank silence which followed it was as discouraging as anything could be...

Nobody does.

Dictionary.com defines "culture shock" as:
a state of bewilderment and distress experienced by an individual
who is suddenly exposed to a new, strange or foreign
social and cultural environment.

I have learned from experience that culture shock comes in waves...

Triple Word Score

Scrabble tiles have been all the rage on Pinterest lately.

I decided to let myself be inspired.

We don't play as much Scrabble as we would like these days,
because I'm a crazy sore loser
because we just don't have much free time.
So, I didn't feel bad about sorting through our Scrabble tiles
and using some of them for decorations. ^^

This "craft" is free and easy and only requires some tape, some Scrabble tiles,
and some sticky tack:

I picked out the letters I wanted and arranged them into the connected words.
Then I taped them together on the backsides.
I taped each of the letters together separately
and then used one long strip of tape for each word for more security:

I used bits of sticky tack on each corner and in other random spots
and then stuck the entire piece to the fridge.

And yes, our microwave is on top of our fridge.
We have a tiny apartment and we do what we can.
And, it's really funny to see our short friends try and reach the microwave. =)
